Videoconference and TeleEducation
The provision of Videoconferencing and TeleEducation services to the members of the academic community is of strategic importance in our times, since it allows the University to transcend geographic borders and develop cooperation programmes with relevant bodies in Greece and abroad.
University members are offered the following videoconferencing services that can be used for teleEducation purposes:
- Support of groups in videoconference rooms of the University with videoconference equipment and infrastructure supported by the AUTh Telecommunications Centre. Detailed information on the infrastructure, the procedure of lecture planning, and other issues relevant to teleEducation can be found here.
- Support of events, lectures, and meetings in any room with loan videoconferencing equipment provided by the AUTh Network Operation Centre, as long as there is connection to the data network in the specific room. More information on connection and loan services can be found here.
- Support of individual users who are interested in videoconferencing via their private computer. Users have many possibilities, given the capacities of modern PCs and the very fast AUTh Internet connection. More information on connection and loan services can be found here.
At the same time, a series of teleEducation services are available to University members:
- Action of the AUTh Education Support Centre - ECS which aims at supporting AUTh teaching staff with Information and Communication Technologies in Education.
Action of asynchronous teleEducation Central Library through BlackBoard software. It offers open courses with material provided by AUTh teaching staff.
- National action of asynchronous teleEducation of the Greek Universities Network Portal GUNet through the open software e-Class It offers courses with material provided by the teaching staff of many Greek higher education institutes.
- Pilot action of asynchronous teleEducation of the AUTh Network Operation Centre through the free software e-Class It can host course material at a local server that provides the same possibilities with the above GUNet server.
